Research skills1: Summary of the magazine article

Summary

This magazine article is by Ray Thursby, Sports car International magazine. The title of the article is Return to Base and the date published was September 2008.
In this summary I’m going to write about the Corvette C6 Convertible 2008. The specifications of the 2008 Corvette is the vehicle type’s front engine, RWD 2 door roadster steel unibody and a base price of $55,425.The sports car is equipped with a V8 engine and it has a 6 speed automatic transmission. Performance of the Corvette is from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and the top speed is 190 mph, As for the fuel economy it is 15/25.There are various improvements for 2008, the starter button operated by the standard keyless entry device .The engine has a small block V8 6.2 L. This along with high flow cylinder heads, revised camshaft timing and higher-rate fuel injectors, results in a 30 horsepower boost over the existing 400-hp V8. The writer explains that the 6 speed automatic transmission was good but he preferred a manual transmission. Plus for 2008, the Corvette C6 has been modified to speed up shifting also the automatic transmission can be coupled with a 2.73 performance oriented axle ratio. The writer also says the paddle shift option is short of ideal and didn’t find any instances where it seemed to make much of a difference in performance nor did the gear changes feel any faster. The stiffer intermediate shaft and improved machining of its internal components means the steering has better feel and weighting. The writer has no complaints aside from the paddle shifter and the lack of difference between the two magnetic ride settings.
