Introduction

In the past cars weren’t expensive and luxurious but performance and power and design of many supercars has changed. In the past people couldn’t afford to buy sport cars because they were expensive although there were many cars on the market that were affordable and had superior design and performance. More supercars were produced and the competition is still growing from rivals like Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Bugatti and VW. In this essay I will compare and contrast the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

Similarities

The Bugatti Veyron Grand sport carbon ceramic brakes with interior ventilation, eight-piston monoblock caliper units in the front, and six-piston caliper units in the rear to provide a maximum of braking power and optimum cooling and the Porsche 911 turbo has an advanced braking system that features six pistons upfront, and four in the rear with ceramic composite brakes optional.
The lighting system in both supercars is similar and both engines are turbo charged.
Porsche and Bugatti are similar in the steering response and steering precision significantly by specific braking of the right or left rear wheel.

Differences

The Bugatti Veyron accelerates from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds and top speed of 252.9 mph.
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport’s seven-gear, twin-clutch gearbox is the first to master comparably high torque values.
The Bugatti Veyron engine with 16 cylinders, a combined capacity of 8 litres, 4 valves per cylinder and four turbo chargers, the Grand Sport’s engine is the most powerful ever to be built into a production vehicle. Fuel economy is 24.1 - l/100km

The Porsche 911 Turbo accelerates from 0-60 mph 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 193mph. The Porsche 911 engine with 6 cylinders and for the transmission a six speed manual gear box.
Fuel economy estimated around 16 miles per gallon in the city and 23 on the highway.
The price of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is more expensive than the 911 Turbo but
the fuel consumption of the Porsche 911 is better than the Grand Sport and the Porsche 911 weighs less than the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport.

Conclusion

The Bugatti Grand Sport is a perfect synthesis of design and technology and it is the world’s fastest convertible car. The Porsche 911 Turbo is unique in its design, power and handling. I would argue that the Porsche 911 is the perfect supercar for my choice.
